Musicality to Rumbon Melon

Here we used rolling travelling turns and different movements to interact with the music of Joey Pastrana's "Rumbon Melon", and how to deal with a break in the music.

Body Rolls

In this class we focused on seamlessly integrating both downward and upward body roll movements to add flavour into a leadable partnerwork sequence

Sharp & Smooth

One of the most dynamic and interesting elements of dancing is the sudden transition between sharp and smooth movements. Here we taught a class about establishing a good smooth baseline, and how to correctly accelerate into movements at the right times.

False Cross Body

The false cross body is a dynamic and fun move to lead and follow, and we made it the focus of this class to create the effect of reverse movements, such as the slide at the end.

Ending the song

In this class we focused no how to end your dance in a way that fits the song you're dancing to - in this case we used Alex Wilson's "Show Me" and lead a rotational back bend to close the song out

Body Movement in Partnerwork

Certain tracks such as the one we use here, "Wild Rose", have more of a flowing feel than the typical puncuated salsa track; and we used a variety of lead body movements in this class to accent it.

Leading from the Hips

When we lead from the hips, wea start to add new levels and dynamics to our partnerwork, as opposed to just connectng through the arms all the time. It also gives followers the freedom to add interesting arm styling.

Styling in Partnerwork

For this class, we used small movements to add style to the dance and importantly can be incorporated without causing any interruptions to the connection.
