FAQ

Here are some of the most common questions we receive; if you can’t find the answer to your question then get in touch via our contact page!

1. Do I need to bring a partner?
You don’t need to bring a partner as you will be rotating with all the students in the class so everyone can have a go.

2. Can I dance only with my partner?
Yes. The rotation is not compulsory, just tell the teacher your preference of not rotating partners before each class. However we highly encourage you to change partners to get the most from your experience.

3. What clothes/shoes should I wear?
Clothes: Wear comfortable clothes that allow easy movement.
Shoes: We recommend flat shoes or low heels that have an ankle strap and are secure around your ankles. Later on you can buy proper jazz or latin dance shoes.

4. Do I need to book the classes?
No, the classes are drop in, so just show up on the day.

5. Can I pay by card?
Unfortunately we are unable to accept cards, so please make sure you bring cash with you.

6. Do you have student discount?
Yes, student prices are £8 for improver and intermediate classes, or £6 for beginners.

7. I’m only in London for a few days. Can I take some classes?
Yes, because we run drop in classes, there is no need to book. Just show up on the day and take part!

8. Which style of salsa do you teach ? On1, On2, LA, Cuban?
During the Sunday classes, we teach On 1 Crossbody Style, which is the most popular style taught and danced both in London and around the world.  We do dance and teach other styles as well, so if you would like more information on these, feel free to contact us.

9. What level am I?
Generally we recommend that you take beginners classes for 6-8 weeks, mastering the crossbody, right and left turns, walkthrough and in-and-out before thinking about moving up to the improver/intermediate level.

10.What if I’ve done a lot of dancing before (ballet, jazz, contemporary etc) but never specifically learnt Latin dance. What level am I at?
Although you may pick it up very quickly, partner dancing is very different to any solo styles such as jazz and ballet, so it’s best to start off at the beginner level.

11. Do you only teach on Sunday?
We also teach on Wednesdays for The Latin Collective.
